Jericho seems to have it all together, he has a close circle of friends, he does pretty well in school, and he is really talented at his trumpet. His music teacher even thinks that if he does well at his approaching music contest, he has a decent shot at Juliard. But Jericho is insecure also, he's lugging around a few extra pounds, and he sure would like to have a girlfriend. So when he, his cousin Josh, and his best friend are asked to pledge the Warriors of Distinction, Jericho should be worked up, especially when a popular, pretty girl, Arielle starts showing interest in him because of his soon-to-be Warrior status. All the adults seem to think the Warriors, with their community service projects and assertive existence in the community, are just glorious. Jericho's uncle, a past Warrior himself, is so boastful of Jericho and Josh. But Jericho has some uneasy feelings about the warriors he just can't get over.
